Pierce County Fire District 8 is located in Edgewood, Washington behind the
historic Nyholm Windmill at the corner of 24th Street and Meridian. The District
provides fire protection services to the City of Edgewood through annexation.
Currently serving an area of approximately ten square miles with a population of
9,640. Our assessed value is $1,345,639,653. The District is on pace in 2008 to
run approximately 1,000 to 1,100 calls. Pierce County Fire District 8 was
created in 1947 with approximately forty volunteers. The Fire District currently
employs a Fire Chief, an Assistant Chief, three Career Shift Captains, six
Career Firefighters, an Office Manager and Office Assistant. The District also
has a Firefighter in Training (F.I.T.) Program consisting of volunteers.
